With the generous support of Western’s Art Department, the Dean’s office, Associated Students, and kindness of countless others, 11 photography students were afforded the opportunity to go to New York City and Balitmore for the National SPE Conference in March 2014. Garth Amundson and Pierre Gour were delighted to help out with the trip and look forward to SPE in New Orleans next year.

Western Washington University and the Art Department’s Photography Concentration are pleased to announce that celebrated international artist Rodney Graham will be the keynote speaker for the Society for Photographic Education‘s 2014 Northwest Regional Conference, hosted in Bellingham, WA. Jess T. Dugan will also be a featured speaker for the conference, entitled “TRANSFIXED | TRANSMEDIA.”
The conference will be held from October 10-12, 2014.

We are currently seeking proposals for panels and image-maker presentations that embrace, question, and expand upon “transmedia” and photographic practice in all its forms. Proposals will be accepted up until April 30, 2014. If you have any questions, please contact spenw2014@gmail.com.

All proceeds benefit the WWU SPE AS Club and will go towards helping our group attend the National SPE Conference in March 2014 in Baltimore, MD.
